Very excited.. a new design that I have already printed, could not wait to see how it looked in repeat.... was worried about the edge of the design, but am happy for it to create a 'line' at the edge, I am particularly pleased with the cut marks that print on the fabric, from a distance it looks like a pale coloured background of the base cloth.

Its always such a learning curve, I found that if I didn't back my linoleum block with hardboard, the print was batter, more detail was transferred.

I think this print would work on a blind or small curtain.

Blue Bird Design at Maradadhi. This design is hand cut from linoleum block. I have hand printed it on a cotton/linen fabric. I can change the placing of the block and make new designs with the same block. I am thinking of making bags with fabric in this design because of the scale of the block.

These hand printed cushions, I am selling at Kiretenbosch Craft Market. I am a guest crafter at the moment, so that means that I don't get a stand every month. The market is held the last Sunday of the month through out the summer months. It really is such a lovely place to sell your crafts, under the trees, right under table mountain. My Protea design was developed from the pin cushion proteas that grow in Kirstenbosch Gardens. I sat and drew the flowers from life in the gardens on a peaceful winters morning. Then took the drawing home and worked on them in my studio. I wanted to develop a design that would be a contemporary floral stylised version of my drawings.

I print the designs that I have cut from lanolin by hand. I press the lanolin down by hand and roller. I print on a cotton linen mix. These prints are colour fast and improve with washing and ironing! The fabric base cloth I use is soft but hard wearing.

I have three deigns that I am using at the moment, Maradadhi Heart, Paisley and the Protea. I am always working on other ideas and will let you know went I have printed something..

I am busy developing my Paisley design with Silk and Cotton Co, which is very exciting, we hope to launch early next year. These designs will be printed on a much larger scale, at Print Works, here in Cape Town. They will be mono prints on a white linen/cotton base cloth.

Here are the new hand printed fabric designs, new at Maradadhi. They have been hand cut from lino board, and are available to order buy the metre.. email me at lotia@iburst.co.za

All printing has been done on 100% cotton fabric and is colour fast. The fabric can be washed and ironed.

I print on upholstery fabric, or a light weight cotton.. depending on what you want to use the fabric for. The light weight cotton looks great on lamp shades, I will have them ready to order very soon.

This fabric is stunning when made into cushion covers or aprons.

Beautifully made ottomans. Don't forget all out furniture is made from Eco friendly Eco board. It is light, strong, and environmentally friendly.. the slip covers are easily removable and washable. You could have two or more covers to change your look. Have one of our ottomans as a feature piece of furniture that is Eco friendly and useful...

We also make beautiful little things here at Maradadhi.. the idea being that there is no waste in the design process. Any extra Eco board or fabric is turned into something beautiful, a trinket box, or a mirror frame, and the scraps of fabric are used to make Rag Rugs.
